Durban: South Africa moved to second place behind India in the World Test Championship table after a stunning 233-run win over Sri Lanka at the Kingsmead Cricket Stadium on Saturday. The Proteas bowling attack led by Marco Jansen ripped through the Sri Lankan batting order in the second innings and bundled out their opponents for a paltry 42. Jansen became the first left-arm pacer to take a ten-wicket haul since South Africa's re-entry into cricket in 1991. After being put in to bat first, the Proteas struggled. After losing wickets one after another, skipper Temba Bavuma's 70-run knock took his side to 191/10. Failing to cross the 200-run mark in the first innings, the Proteas bowlers held the ground under immense pressure on the second day and put up a valiant performance. Marco Jansen's brilliant 6.5-over spell saw the left-arm pacer take seven wickets. Kagiso Rabada (1) and Gerald Coetzee (2) helped Jensen and bundled out the visitors for 42, giving them a 149-run lead. Tristan Stubbs (122) and Bavuma (113) put on 249 runs to put together South Africa's highest fourth-wicket partnership in Tests against Sri Lanka, breaking the 192-run stand set by AB de Villiers and Jacques Kallis at Newlands in Cape Town in 2012. The Proteas declared their innings at 366/5 and set the visitors a mammoth target of 516. Despite the best efforts of Dinesh Chandimal and skipper Dhananjaya de Silva, the visitors were bundled out for 282, giving the hosts a memorable win. After being adjudged Man of the Match, Jensen said, "I always dreamt of taking five wickets but never thought I would take 10 wickets, but that's what you work for. It hasn't sunk in yet (talking about the first innings performance). In the second innings, we felt the pitch was a bit flat, slow and low, but taking 11 wickets is a dream come true."
