Mumbai: Bhagam Bhag, starring Akshay Kumar, Govinda and Paresh Rawal in the lead roles, is considered one of director Priyadarshan's finest films. Even in Akshay's vast repertoire, Bhagam Bhag holds a very special place along with landmark films like Hera Pheri and Welcome. Recently, Sarita Ashwin Varde of Roaring River Productions has acquired the rights of the sequel from Shemaroo Entertainment, who is also working on the script of the film. She will produce the film in association with Shemaroo. On why the sequel took so long, Sarita says, "Because the sequel of a special film like Bhagam Bhag should be equally special. When the right time came, we decided to make it." Incidentally, Sarita has been associated with the film world for a long time. She has been the creative force behind her husband Ashwin Varde, who is also the producer of films like Boss, Mubarakan, Kabir Singh, OMG-2 and Khel Khel Mein. Hiren Gada, CEO of Shemaroo Entertainment says, “We are excited to partner with a great team to create a film that will continue the legacy of its previous film with even more laughter, fun and entertainment.” Currently, the writing of Bhagam Bhag 2 is in the final stages and is scheduled to begin in mid-2025. Right now, the makers have only promised that the sequel will be “even crazier and funnier”. The casting will also be decided soon after the official announcement of the film.
