Mumbai: Elephanta boat capsized from Gateway of India, rescue operation underway

Mumbai:. The boat going to Elephanta from Gateway of India in Mumbai capsized in Karanja Ke Uran. In this accident, there is news of the death of a person.According to initial information, it is being told that 30 passengers were on board the boat named Neelkamal. However, as of now, the number of passengers on the boat is not known. Rescue and relief operations are underway at the spot with the help of Navy, JNPT, Coast Guard, 3 boats of Yellowgate Police Station and local fishermen.According to media reports, 25 people have to be rescued. A rescue effort has been launched by the Navy along with the Coast Guard and Marine Police. 11 names of Navy, 3 names of Marine Police and 1 name of Coast Guard are in the area. Apart from this, four helicopters are also engaged in rescue operations. Ambulance is also present at the spot.The cause of the accident is not yet clear. Administration and rescue team are working fast in this case. All possible efforts are being made to evacuate the passengers safely. Divers have also been lowered into the sea.A video of the incident has also surfaced, in which it can be seen that the boat is slowly sinking into the water. People are being shifted to other names by wearing life jackets.According to the Joint Mission Command (JOC) and BMC, the boat ‘Neelkamal’ suddenly faltered and capsized near Uran in Karanja. In the video of the accident captured by passengers from other boats, people can be seen screaming for help, flapping their arms and legs to swim, trying to save their loved ones from drowning in the waters of the Arabian Sea.
