In a landmark step toward safeguarding the safety, dignity, and legal protection of healthcare professionals, the MP Forum for Healthcare Safety & Protection (MP-HSP Forum) was formally launched at the India International Centre, New Delhi.Initiated by MedscapeIndia- Aryan Medical Educational Trust (AMET), the Forum establishes a structured parliamentary mechanism through which Hon’ble Members of Parliament collectively become the voice and representatives of India’s medical fraternity within Parliament.The launch witnessed strong cross-party parliamentary support and was held in the presence of Hon’ble Members of Parliament and senior medical leaders, including Dr. Bhagwat Karad, Dr. Fouzia Khan, and Dr Sunita Dube. The initiative marks a historic convergence of parliamentary leadership and unified medical representation.

 

Earlier, Hon’ble Member of Parliament Shri Lakshmikant Bajpai ji had raised this critical issue in the Rajya Sabha and formally communicated the matter to the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. His intervention, along with the support of several senior leaders across political parties, played a significant role in strengthening MedscapeIndia’s advocacy for healthcare professionals’ safety and protection.

The issue of healthcare professionals’ safety has been raised 16 times in the Parliament of India and has received formal support from over 42 Hon’ble Members of Parliament. It has also drawn attention at the highest constitutional level, including acknowledgment by the Hon’ble President of India, underscoring its national importance.

 

Over the years, the issue has been taken up across multiple parliamentary platforms; Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha, Health & Family Welfare deliberations, committee representations, petitions, and stakeholder consultations highlighting the urgent need for a safe and secure environment for both doctors and patients.

 

The overwhelming, bipartisan support from Members of Parliament reflects a progressive and empathetic approach toward healthcare safety. The medical fraternity, through MedscapeIndia, expressed deep gratitude for this collective parliamentary commitment.

The MP-HSP Forum now provides a formal parliamentary structure to advance these long-standing demands with accountability, continuity, and urgency.

Strong Support from Eminent Medical Professionals

The Forum received extensive support from eminent medical professionals across disciplines, reflecting the unity and depth of commitment within India’s medical community.Notable supporters present included Dr. Girish Tyagi (DMC), Dr. Mohsin Wali, Dr. Anil Kohli, Dr. Puneet Agarwal (NMO), Dr Devendra Triguna,Brigadier R. R. Singh, Dr. Ravi Rathod, and Mr. Varun Joshi, along with several doctors representing diverse medical streams.Their presence reaffirmed the collective resolve of the medical fraternity to work in partnership with Parliament to ensure safety, dignity, and legal protection for healthcare professionals nationwide.Rising violence against doctors is no longer an individual issue it is a national healthcare crisis, and this Forum exists to protect patient care by protecting those who provide it.

MedscapeIndia AMET: A Unified National Medical Voice

This national initiative has been conceptualized, supported, and strengthened under the MedscapeIndia platform, which brings together 8,000 institutions and 57 national medical bodies across all medical streams nationwide.MedscapeIndia functions as a credible, unified, and policy-driven representative platform, enabling structured and effective engagement between the medical fraternity and lawmakers.The initiative has received encouragement and backing from 42 Hon’ble Members of Parliament and several public representatives, many of whom have actively raised healthcare safety issues in Parliament reflecting strong nationwide support for the Forum’s objectives.
