Azamgarh: Madrasa Board cannot give Kamil and Fazil degrees, the future of 1000 enrolled students is in doubt
Azamgarh: Madrasa Board cannot give degrees of Kamil and Fazil, the future of 1000 students who have enrolled is uncertain, while following the instructions of the Madrasa Board, students of Munshi, Maulvi and Amil are filling the board form.Munshi, Maulvi, Amil, Kamil and Fazil are given punishment in 66 Madrasas recognized in the district. The students studying in these Madrasas were awarded the degrees of Munshi, Maulvi (High School), Alim (Intermediate), Kamil (Bachelor) and Fazil (Master) by the Madrasa Board after passing the examination. On November 5, the Supreme Court in its judgment upheld the Uttar Pradesh Madrasa Shiksha Board Act, 2004 and overturned the Allahabad High Court’s judgment which declared the Act unconstitutional. The court also said that Madrasas recognized by the Madrasa Board cannot award degrees of higher punishment like Kamil, Fazil. This is contrary to the UGC Act and unconstitutional. Even after a month and a half of the court’s decision, no decision has been taken on the students of Kamil and Fazil. Last year 3670 students appeared in Munshi, Maulvi, Amil, Kamil and Fazil exams. About one thousand examinees were Kamil and Fazil. After the court decision, the Madrasa Board form is being filled for the students of Munshi, Maulvi, Amil. No decision has been made yet on the students of Kamil and Fazil. There are eight madrassas in Mubarakpur where Kamil and Fazil studied. His studies have been banned after the order of the High Court. A petition is going on to affiliate all the students with Lucknow University, but no decision has been taken yet. Due to this, the students of Kamil and Fazil are worried about their future.Maulana Qaiser Azmi, Principal, Madrasa Serajul Oloom, First Madrasa Board used to issue the marksheets. Kamil and Fazil have bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Madrasa Board cannot give higher punishment or degree. Students of Munshi, Maulvi and Amil are filling Madrasa Board forms.
