WHO IS AASIF KHAN? MEET THE ‘PANCHAYAT’ FAME ACTOR ENTERING BIGG BOSS 20
From working as a waiter and in a hotel kitchen in Mumbai to becoming a familiar face across some of India’s most-loved OTT shows, Aasif Khan’s journey is one of persistence, theatre, perseverance and the belief that every small role can eventually lead to something bigger.
Born and brought up in Nimbahera, Rajasthan, Aasif moved to Mumbai in 2010 with dreams of becoming an actor. His early years in the city were far from glamorous. He worked as a waiter and later in a hotel kitchen, took up a job at a mall and continued auditioning alongside his day jobs. For Aasif, making it as an actor meant first finding a way to simply stay in the city and keep chasing the dream.
His pursuit of acting eventually took him back to Rajasthan, where he trained in theatre in Jaipur. He spent several years honing his craft on stage before returning to Mumbai, where he also worked as a casting assistant. These experiences gave him a perspective of the industry both in front of and behind the camera.
Aasif’s early screen appearances included working as a junior artist in films such as Ready and Agneepath, followed by supporting roles in Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Pari and India’s Most Wanted. He gradually gained wider recognition through the digital space, appearing in popular shows including Mirzapur, Paatal Lok, Jamtara: Sabka Number Ayega, Panchayat and Human.
However, it was his portrayal of Damaad Ji in Panchayat that introduced him to a much wider audience. His comic timing and memorable dialogue, “Gajab beizzati hai yaar,” made the character a fan favourite and gave Aasif an identity that audiences instantly connected with.
What makes Aasif’s journey particularly compelling is that his success did not happen overnight. Behind the familiar face are years of auditions, theatre, odd jobs and smaller roles, each one adding another chapter to his story. He built his career one character at a time, steadily turning brief appearances into memorable performances.
Now, Aasif is stepping into perhaps his most revealing role yet: himself.
As he enters the Bigg Boss 20 house with Salman Khan as host, audiences will get an opportunity to see the man behind the characters they have come to know and love.
