A Journey Through Memory and Migration: Book Reading with acclaimed actor Nandita Das and Bhawana Somaaya in

Mumbai, June , 2025 – Dedicated to enriching the lives of India’s 60+ community, is proud to host a special book reading session with acclaimed author and celebrity journalist Bhawana Somaaya in Mumbai. *The event will feature the unveiling of her latest book, “Farewell Karachi: A Partition Memoir”, by acclaimed actor and director Nandita Das. It will take place on 22nd June at 4:30 PM at Mcubed Library, D’monte Park Road, Bandra West, and will be moderated by well-known media personality Tarana Raja.*

The session will spotlight Somaaya’s latest work, “Farewell Karachi: A Partition Memoir” – a deeply personal narrative that traces the journey of a Gujarati family displaced during the 1947 Partition. The book spans five generations, capturing the emotional and physical dislocation of a family forced to restart their lives across Karachi, Kutch, and Bombay.

Reflecting on the origins of the book, Bhawana Somaaya shared,
“This memoir was born out of a question that caught me off guard – about my greatest fear. Writing Farewell Karachi became a way to make sense of that fear, to confront the trauma and silence passed down generations. I hope this book resonates with anyone who’s ever felt uprooted or yearned to trace the story behind their family’s beginnings.”
