Six days before the wedding, two bodies were found in the house; the elder brother shot his younger brother and then took his own life.
A tragic and shocking incident has emerged from Bihar’s Madhepura district. The joy of a wedding in Ward 14 of Alamnagar Nagar Panchayat suddenly turned into mourning on Wednesday morning when the elder brother shot and killed his younger brother and then committed suicide. This incident has sent shockwaves through the entire area.
The deceased have been identified as Pankaj Kumar (35), the elder son of local grocery businessman Nawal Kishore Bhagat, and Chhotu Kumar (28). According to police, the two brothers were sleeping in the same room. Investigations have revealed that Pankaj first shot his younger brother in the temple, killing him instantly. He then shot himself with the same pistol.
Bodies found covered in blood
Upon hearing the gunshots, family members and neighbors rushed to the room and found the two brothers lying in a pool of blood. Upon receiving the information, Alamnagar police station arrived at the scene, sealed the scene, and began an investigation. Police recovered a blood-stained country-made pistol from the scene. Given the seriousness of the case, the forensic team also collected evidence from the scene. The most poignant aspect of this incident is that the deceased, Chhotu Kumar, was scheduled to get married on July 8th. His Tilak ceremony and Phaldan ceremony had taken place just a few days earlier on June 28th, and wedding preparations were in full swing at home. While the family was preparing for the wedding procession and welcoming guests, this incident left the entire family in deep shock.
Puja was performed before the murder
According to family members and locals, Pankaj Kumar’s behavior had been unusual for some time. It is reported that his temperament had changed significantly after his mother’s death. The family also claims that before the incident, he performed a puja and lit incense sticks in front of a photo of his mother and brother. However, the police have not yet confirmed these claims.
Police investigating
Upon receiving information about the incident, SDPO Avinash Kumar arrived at the scene and questioned the family members. Police say that the actual cause of the incident will be determined based on the post-mortem report, forensic investigation, and other evidence. At present, the motive behind the murder and suicide remains unclear, and the investigation is ongoing.
