Two notorious criminals, Sonu Singh and Monu Singh, were arrested in Bihar’s Begusarai district. During the arrest, the police forcibly shoved a pistol into their waistbands. A video of this act was captured on camera and is now going viral on social media, raising questions about the police’s working style. However, Hind Ekta Times  does not confirm the viral video. Police say the video has been presented in a misleading manner. The arrested Sonu and Monu are residents of Bariyapurpur in the Ballia police station area and are real brothers. They are listed among the top 10 criminals in Begusarai district.

Sub-Divisional Police Officer (DSP) Subodh Kumar said that on Saturday morning, intelligence was received that Sonu and Monu, sons of absconding accused Vinod Singh, were present at their home. After verifying the information, a police team led by police officers Robin Kumar Das and Gautam Kumar conducted the raid. Upon seeing the police, both accused tried to run, but the officers surrounded them and apprehended them. During the search, a loaded country-made pistol, four bullets, a khukri, and Rs 3,000 in cash were recovered from Monu Singh. Five bullets and a knife were recovered from Sonu Singh. DSP Subodh Kumar stated that both brothers have a long criminal history.

Serious cases against both brothers

Since 2012, a dozen cases have been registered against them at the Ballia police station under various serious sections, including attempt to murder and the Arms Act. Recently, both are accused of firing in the village.

What did the DSP say about the viral video?

Regarding the video of the arrest that has gone viral on social media, the DSP stated that the video has been presented in a misleading manner. He clarified that any allegations of fake police action are baseless. At the time of his arrest, Monu Singh was attempting to retrieve his weapon. Police officers seized him after considerable effort. The DSP stated that during interrogation, both accused admitted to possessing weapons. The DSP added that the police do not frame innocent people or protect criminals. Action is underway to send both accused to jail under the judicial process.
